Chilliwack BC | We milk half your number and preg check every 2 weeks at 29-44 days. Have SCR heattime with rumination collars. Pull collars off when confirmed pregnant. Dont preg check again until dry off between 210-225 DCC.
If we visually see a heat on a cow without a collar that's been confirmed pregnant, we always breed (as long as the DIM isn't too high out of range). It works. We very rarely get an open cow at dry off preg check.
I used to use DHI milk tests for some preg checks but it didn't tell you what to do with an open cow. Is she mid cycle and PG today? Dirty? Cystic? Not cycling? DNB? | |
