northeastern Ohio | Our vet doesn't do preg checks anymore. Been using a combination of the DHI milk samples and Cowmanager data for 7 years. Actually probably over 10 years on the milk samples.
Take milk samples on cows between 32 and 62 days. If the test shows negative, there is basically 0% chance she is bred. Either start her on a ovsync protocol or put her on the cull list.
If positive, mark her as preg but watch Cowmanager for possible heats. If she shows a heat, re-test to confirm preg or abort. It runs about 50/50 on false heat or aborted. | |
