Southwest Illinois | If it is in the path of development I would not sign a solar or wind lease. You have to ask yourself, why are these solar companies willing to spend $2000 per acre per year when they could own it for much less. I had wind developer wanting ground leases this winter. Told him our ground was for sale, not for lease. They don't want the liability of ownership because who knows what the government will classify solar farms as when the lease is up that way you get left holding the bag of crap. The way our government is heading these solar farms could wind up being superfund type cleanup sites. | |
