Neighbor would plant corn for silage, harvest, plant rye, harvest in spring haylage, plant corn a bit late make silageā€¦. Apple manure after each harvest.

We ran into several wet springs and he stopped doing it. I think the corn silage yield was getting delayed too much to see gains from the rye.

Looked like a really nice system in the right weather, but our growing season is so short and the risks of wet falls and wetter springs made it more bother than it was worth.
