| There are many on here sharper than myself at feeding cattle but that is what I do on my feeders that are on a grower ration, I give them silage and a little more forage till I get there frame on them then go mostly corn at around 850#. The opposite on my Holstein and Holstein crosses, I give them all the corn they’ll eat from day one and only a few pounds of roughage.
The times I’ve done that with a beef calf I end up with a little butterball that’s finished at 1000 lb!
As for ddg, I feed 13-14#of wet cake in my fat ration per head per day, I would expect if you use dry dg it would be around 7-8. It is 22% protein I think and you could use it to replace some corn, but there again I would ask a nutritionist what the best fit is. | |
