I chop corn then plant rye to chop in May then plant corn again. All grower cattle get a rye and corn silage ration with a minor amount off DDG in addition. Finishing cattle get rye silage, DDG and snaplage.
Rye, and I'm assuming other small grain silage, feeds hotter than it tests.
