I think a lot of jobs are becoming work from home mostly, like 90% of the time, vs work from home 100% of the time. We all need to mentor new hires, attend meetings and conferences, and somewhere there is some receptionist at HQ which is now a shipping and print center with the files and the company servers and the senior exec team doing their weekly meeting.

Jobs my friends have who don’t really work in an office:

1.  design engineer (occasional client site visit)
2.  IT support (frequent client site visits, but otherwise techs work from their laptop wherever)
3.  cybersecurity (one guy apparently lives in an RV and uses StarLink and just roves around, the others work from home offices
4.  doctor - works in an advisory and review role reviewing case files and medication doses and training front line doctors over Zoom most of the time, occasional patient visit over Zoom.  Thinks 50 hours a week on the computer at home is a retirement job after 3+ decades of 12 hour days 5-6 days/week in an office plus being on call.
5.  Construction project manager.  Does it all from laptop and cell phone.  No need to be in an office, only occasionally on site.  Make sure the right materials come at the right time and the subs show up on the right schedule.
6.  Medical imaging software help desk.  Everyone left the call center to work from home during COvID and didn’t come back.  Building recently got sold.
7.  Variety of agronomists, sales, and service manager staff in the ag inputs and equipment industry.  Have laptop and cell phone, not much need for a daily office.  Work from kitchen table or pickup truck to customer site.
