Eastern Iowa | She likes a soft mattress & I prefer a hard on.
I hope that's just a typo.
Seriously, we have been very happy with our Select Comfort bed. My wife adjusted it regularly when she was pregnant to meet her changing needs, as have I over the last six years we have had it. I have become so attuned to it that I can tell when the kids have fiddled with the remote, just by lying down.
I have spoken to other people who have tried them and not liked them at all, and I admit it took quite a while to find my comfort zone. THe "specialist" at the store told me I wanted to use 70 for my sleep number and I found out I am more comfortable at 40--but the great thing is that at least I was not miserable for ten years simply because I bought a poorly recommended mattress. I found it over time, and now sleep great.
As for price, it has been a while since we got ours and it cost more than conventional set-ups, but not a lot more, at the time. Probably less than $100. I think the total package, delivered to my home, was about $1400.
