Only good thing about a sleep number bed is their money back guarantee. I can't stand them. Had one for 30 days and sent it back.
My favorite was my old fashioned waterbed, but my wife can't handle it. Second choice for me would be a memory foam. Pretty firm, but they mold around your body pretty quickly. That's what is in our truck sleepers and I can sleep better there than most anywhere else.
Wife's favorite is a pillow top that is so soft you need a ladder to climb out of it, but I can't stand it that soft.
Take your time trying some out, just tell the salesman you need some time to get used to them and then lay back and try to relax. Might help if you took your own pillow to be more comfortable.
