RR Valley, ND; MN native | In all these sorts of discussions, I don't get why a public charging station is not treated the same as a gas station and there is a per kW-Hr tax rolled up just like the per gallon tax at a fuel pump.
If its a home charger, that could be done the same. My power company today charges a different rate for regular electric vs "off peak" used for electric heat in the winter. No reason the the car charger in the garage could not be on a separate meter.
All these sorts of taxes/fees could be adjusted to equal out on a use per mile average, etc so no power source gets favored. | |
