Subject: Population ?

Why does everyone feel the need to "plant" ( the word is plant, not drill) more seed in 15" rows than 30" rows?

We've purposefully planted 110,000 beans/acre in 20" rows before and had a good stand and good crop.

If the seed is being put in the ground with a "planter" with good depth control and furrow closing abilities I wouldn't change my population from 36" rows down to 10" rows if planted on the same date.

"Here" on our sandy ground 30" rows don't canopy most yrs. We plant 20" rows, 15" would be better, 10" planted with a planter would be best.
