South Central Illinois | On my better soils there is no advantage to 15 inch soybeans. In a test plot we do every year we do a side by side with 15's and 30's. There has yet to be more than 1.5 bpa difference. One year it will be the 30's, the next year it will be the 15's. We always try to use a bean that does not favor one row width or the other.
On my poorer soils 15's do yield better. Before one spends the extra money to purchase "two" planters I would suggest doing some of their own on farm research to see which ones fit the operation the best.
