Got to agree with 455 . I've welded a few diesel tanks with fuel in them. Fill them full and remove the cap put a piece of steel over the cap so sparks and dirt don't fall in and weld away. It will require more heat to penetrate but that isn't a problem. Diesel fuel isn't explosive like gas. Put some in a can and try to light it. It takes a lot of heat to get it going.
