Subject: RE: 3 point dropping completely?

Driftless SW Wisconsin

The 3 point should be floating in the slots on the arms but you should be using POSITION not draft setting on 3 point. Draft setting causes the 3 point to go up and down as the draft load changes. Position keeps the 3-point height constant relative to the tractor and is what you want.

Toolbar height should be 20" from the bottom of the 7 x 7 to the ground. Off side marker should be vertical to the eye when viewed from the end of the frame, not tipped towards or away from the tractor.Set the 20" with the gage wheels on the ends of the bar.

FORGET ABOUT TRYING TO GET THE PARALLEL LINKS LEVEL!!!! This will drive you crazy. They are meant to flex up and down.

You can have the parallel links level and the planter still all screwed up. Frame 20" high and square and the parallel links will take care of themselves.

Don may have something. You might try pinning or hydraulically locking the wings down, after you set the gage wheels for 20".

Do these and add weight to each row unit. jmho.
