I weigh on a scale with a row of load cells on each side. The side beams are 18 - 20 inch though. I have never looked under it but I would say the cross beams are about 10 - 12 inch.
That top deck is almost 17,000 pounds alone, right?
If you can get a "buy" on it, get it for the deck. Somehow you will have to get the cross section deeper on beams length wise and cross wise. Maybe use the 5 inch stuff for cross members. Then, find wide beams for the sides. Not that the unit would be easy to tip over for welding. ;(


The scale sits "on grade" and aproachs are a long slope ramp on each end. Shouldn't be any moisture problems with that.
