Interesting topic about plant populations.  For many hybrids we are told to plant 26-28K on marginal land.  Many years ago (assuming good rainfall) we have grown 140-150 bu/acre corn on this land with 18-20K population.  

If we are not shooting for yields over 150 bu/acre would we be just as well, or better off, planting 18-20K on this land?
