Subject: Re: Corn on Corn vs. Corn on Bean Yields

Aberdeen MS
This summer on the bus tour, at the Lamberton stop, first year data results (07) on N, strip till, corn on corn were talked about.

Fall urea of 0, 100, and 130 units applied. Check = 96, 100 and 130 between 122 and 129 for yields. Conclusion was N was needed but data gave no results to optimum rate.

If I remember right, the 100 and 130 was two different application methods (both with the strip till rig Unverferth) and a N stabilizer application as well.

I can't remember the scientist name that was conducting the tests.

My "so called" tests I'm running will really not have much conclusion to them as to different fields and varieties as well, but I have fall NH3 120, fall NH3 70/side dress NH3 50, and side dress 120 of 28. Will be opening up the first field this afternoon sometime with the 28% sidedressed field being the first one.

Maybe a call in another month will get something from the second year? It will definitely be an interesting test, last year dry, this year wet, late, short GDU's, etc.
