Subject: Re: Corn on Corn vs. Corn on Bean Yields

At our place, this is what we saw on a pair of fields within 1/2 mile of each other. Corn on corn was 20 bushel per acre less than corn on beans. 195 bu per acre vs. 215 bu per acre whole field averages. Both fields fully irrigated, similar irrigation schedule, same fertility package, some of the varieties were the same. Variety yield differences were for the most part insignificant. Planting dates were within 2 days of each other. Soils are very similar. 2nd year corn on corn in the one field.

This was our first time in quite a while with corn on corn. Obviously one year is insufficient for conclusions, but this is what we saw this year.
