Subject: RE: Grid sampling and tissue testing.

Little River, TX
Delta Oscar Charley,

Remember I am a hay farmer. Every place I stop to get a tissue clipping I get a soil probe. For my fields I sample the East, Center, & West part of my long narrow fields. If things look good I average the results. I sample prior to the second cutting of the seson.

Except for organic matter soil testing is kind of a waste when I have a good tissue testing history, on each field. Some times a soil testing history is all I have to go on so I soil sample any way.
I do look at pH, I find potash interesting and consider magnesium, I have a good measured CEC data collection. The CEC should not change, Here.

In addition to a simple soil test I pay for their findings on free lime in my soil. When I have a good data collection for free lime I will stop paying for that.

For the record my soils range close to 8 pH, CEC 50 meq/100g, 4 - 6% free lime, and 6,000 to 9,000 ppm Ca.
