Western Oregon | EQIP is a pain. Yes it is a scheme by the government to monitor everything you do. At this point they are paying really well. I don't know about the future.
I found out this fall that we were signed up for 100 acres of prennial no-till. I don't think I signed up for it. I did ask about it. But never got around to filling out the paperwork. Pretty sure neither my dad nor brother did it. Thought I better use it.
But, the no-till payment is NOT dependent on you being in the comprehensive EQIP program. My little 100 acre hay farm is not in the program but I filled out the paperwork and got a payment to help me adapt to no-till practices. I can't remember the name of that program.
I have had quite a few planting jobs as a result of government programs so I will refrain from commenting. I have found it really depends on the county you are in and the person who you work with.
