That is what the foreman is all about. Really depends on operation size. You get to a point in size where you lose money sitting on the tractor, working in the shop, or even managing the day to day operations than you would if you didn't. I think it is important to be visible, intelligent and personable with your crew but you have to spend your time where you make the most money. Period. Tough line to draw in the sand, but I would venture the guess that most farmers with some size spend too much time in the field from a business perspective.
