roaming | basically what it means is - I would not suggest plugging in your 277885A1 to an Ag Leader serial port, unless you have modified either the port or the cable to ensure that voltage cannot be sent to the receiver on pins 4 or 6. It's possible that voltage on those pins would not cause any harm, but it would sure be an expensive "oops" if it DID cause damage.
What are your options?
1. Cut off pins 4 and 6 on the PF3000 or Insight. Probably not the best move for resale value or future use.
2. Make (or have one made for you) a little serial adapter that has only the pins you need (2, 3, and 5). Plug it in to the AL device, then plug your 277885A1 into the adapter. Would be female on one end, male on the other.
3. Modify the 277885A1 directly. Because it's a nicely molded cable, this won't be easy.
I would vote for option 2 if it were my equipment. | |
