Wish I had got in earlier on this one! Don nailed it. CORS is what is technically called Network RTK. It is more reliable than 'single point' or 'single baseline' RTK because it uses many base stations to provide the data rather than a lone, single base station. Add to this the millions of dollars DOT spend to keep the system up 99.97% of the time and there is no way a dealer network (network used very loosely here) or a single reference station is more reliable. Most dealer stations are not 'networked' which means if your closest station goes down your autosteer goes down. CORS RTK is designed so that the other stations back you up if one goes out. If you are inside a PROPERLY designed network, your distance to the nearest station is mostly irrelevant.

Accuracy, on a PROPERLY designed DOT network it will be more accurate, more of the time compared with a single RTK station. There is no distance degradation within the network.

On the cell booster kit issue... we have hundreds of these out operating in rural America and Canada just fine. Do not compare a voice cell handset reception to a mojoRTK built in cell modem with a booster kit. Cell handsets have tiny antennas built in to minimize handset size. mojoRTK and booster kits have high gain antennas designed for maximum range that mount on the roof at over 10ft. Every time we have cell reception problems on mojoRTK, the booster kit has fixed the issue. Here is the link...

Now, there will be extreme terrain that will block all cell signals but you would be in the minority. There are also some cell providers that still don't have data access on some of their towers, but these will be in the minority as well.

The only serious advantage a single station has over CORS is cost. When you have multiple machines on farm, a single station providing signal to 3 or more tractors will be less costly than paying cell charges for 3 systems.
