Subject: HA HA - my civil engineering coming to use

Von

Saw your question - realized I just did a project using the same materials. I have detailed notes about this - now just to figure them out

OK, so here it goes. Units are in metric; using softwood

2x10 has a shear resistance of 6.5 kN, and a bending resistance of 4.49kN.m
2x12 has a shear resistance of 7.2 kN, and a bending resistance of 6.05kN.m

So basically it depends on the load that your putting on.

My charts have a lot more details, so if you want to send me some info, I can do the calcs ( I'm on summer co-op, yet need the practice )
