Near-north Ontario, French River | If I were you I would leave the coulters on even in once tilled ground. If the soil is in good condition then the coulter is just along for the ride, perhaps cutting the odd peice of trash or doing some minor tillage in areas where perhaps the soil finisher didnt penetrate as well for one reason or the other. But why go through the effort of removing them , only to have to replace then a few days later when you switch to beans. The KISS principle seems to hold true here LOL... As for pulling an 8 row planter with 100hp... No problems at all . We pull a 12 row kinze with two rawson coulters out front of the row unit plus dry and liquid fertilizer onboard ( 24coulters ,plus twelve row units vs your 8 units and 8 coulters ) and get along fine with a 110hp MFD . Only time we have any real issue is around wet spots or sink holes so you should have no problems with your set up. |
