If you are working the ground ahead of the planter I would take the coulters off, I have never been a big fan of notill coulters because we work the ground before the planter too. What little notil we have done I have been able to get it in the ground without the coulter. If you are notilling beans, tru notil, into stalks I would try putting them on, but again we have notilled into stalks without them, but the ground was not hard, it still had some moisture. If you disked the stalks last fall and will come in with the planter this year I would leave them off. I would look at the row cleaners, it would be the best money you could spend in my opinion. Lets your row unit run smooth and you can peel off as much stalk as you like, if you do decide to look for some I would go with the Martin or Dawn, skip the Yetters, they are too light for what you would want to do. I have the seed firmers on my bean&corn planters and like them, the other guy you talked to might have his adjusted too firm. Just my opinion, |
