Subject: Waterline Break

Eastern Ontario

Problem!! Got a waterline break going from one house to another ( 500' ). I cannot pinpoint the location of the break other than it must be between the two dwellings. The ground is still covered with at least 2 feet of snow with frost. Had a backhoe with a hydraulic ram in yesterday and dug where we thought it might be. No luck. That thing is not cheap. There are no visible bare spots where water might have come to the surface. I'm about out of options other than digging in multiple spots to narrow down the break. I feel reluctant to do so, as it will rip up the landscape. Perhaps I have no option but to do it anyway. Thought about a temporary overground line , but temps are still below freezing for the time being. I want my water back. Any ideas?
