IMO comparing the planter to the drill is one thing and comparing 15" planted rows to 30" planted rows is another. You get the placement, singulation, and spacing of a planter on either one. You can even use the exact same population on 15" planted beans as 30".

Size of the machine (width) can play into the decision. I've been considering these options, as we plant wheat and corn among other things. But those two crops mean you have a planter and a drill. Then you try to decide if the drill is only for wheat, or for milo and beans. Some plant wheat with 15" planter to get away from a drill altogether. I can't quite get used to that yet.
