Subject: Re: Deere Vs After market Concave & rasp bars

West Union, IOWA FLOLO Farm 52175
Got some prices this morning Deere OEM black bars are $510 for the set to my door. So I doubt I'll mess around their much.

I called StJohn's this morning and they're at $594 (plus transport)for a hard surface rebuild VS $940 on the OEM. Do you worry about the Hardsurfacing chipping? especially when you have a history of finding FM in the field?

I wish we could get even close to 1400 hrs on a concave, I don't think we've ever "wore" 1 out as they usually meet premature death from rock or field hazards. But actually looks like this one could be from an older head we put on for oats just so we could get around easier and sent a steel finger thru. Concensus between to different JD combine techs is 700hrs is pretty good life expectancy for concave and bars "here" so I'd say we're par for the course @1500 seperator hours and going to be put the 3rd in--loran
