Subject: RE: feed bunks regular or dairy style

We use bunks in our feedlots, but often been tempted to try the flat floor way. I was told that animals can be healthier if eating down low supposed to keep things draining and such, also might be a little more natural for them to start eating off the ground. the downside is you should come by and push up the feedonce or twice a day.
I also think the dairies use this style so they can come by once a day and scoop up all the old feed, they then remix it into a dry cow ration and keep fresh feed in the milking cows. Hope that helps.
What are you considering, bedding type or pit?
