We have the same problem. Worst in a cold wet spring. Mainly in the wetter areas of the field where they congregate. One year you could spot every wet area in the field because they had done their work on the corn in those spots.

Best thing we've found is to get the corn off to a good start. Once it gets a little size to it, the slugs leave it alone. Use row cleaners to help warm up that soil. Some years you just can't help it..........a cold wet spell after planting and those wet areas are in trouble. I've never tried a chemical control, but a few around here have and it gets pretty pricey. Usually it warms up in time for the corn to get out of that vulnerable stage with out too terrible much damage.
