I think a far more accurate and equitable way would be to replace the nutreints that your crop removed. I think soil testing is going to be to variable and someone is NOT going to be happy. There is obviously variation in soil sampling no matter how hard you try to remove all variables, a couple of PPM in soil tests could cost someone alot of money.
If you remove 180 bu of corn, you know exaclty (especially if you get a corn sample tested) how much nutrients you removed. According to my numbers, 180 bu corn will remove 125 lbs of MAP and 80 lbs of potash. Replace this amount and you are good to go. Check with your local extention branch and have everybody agree UPFRONT what the removal rates are for each crop per unit of yield and then there are no expensive surprises.
