He probably did you a favor cutting the stalks out of the field. Now you have a nice clean field to do what you want to next year without a bunch of corn stalks with bugs in them all over. Go out there and no till some wheat in there and it will probably come out really nice for you. He didn't take the dirt, just the mess on top.
