Coming from one northerner to another, dschill I think your asking for trouble feeding a bull 20 lb of grain unless its oats. I only feed our bulls hay and a little silage. If I have any oats around they get lots of it when it gets done below - 20 to -30. I would stay away from 20 lb of barley.


I would very much agree. I would for sure stay away from the barley or at very least dial it back down. My personal max is 8 to 10 # per day and that 10# is when it is -30 C and very windy. I would rather run bulls that can gain on a decent forage only ration - - he does have about 7 months to do it in and nothing to occupy himself but to paw and bellow and occasionaly scrap!
