Downtown Shell Knob MO Come Visit!
We still like AA around here. Even with expensive AA, its cheaper than most of the liquid feeds. for a protein/palitibility standpoint, and it increases energy a little by breaking down lignin, but its not going to be a great energy source. But the big deal is, on those cold sleety days where everything goes wrong and the tmr has a broken drive shaft and you can't get liquid feed out of the the tank or to the cow for anything, you can still grab a truck or loader and dump the animals straight hay and they will eat it.
I don't have a clue what mix 30 is nor have I read all the other posts. But I wouldn't worry about what most of the feedlot guys worry about with things like sulfur or too high of fat, because Im assuming your crappy hay (probably amazing to my cows) will still be the majority of your ration. I would consentrate more on figuring out your energy and protein and your Ca to P level should be ok just because of the nature of mixing a forage with a grain byproduct.
