Mark, I find actual wts can be deceiving because of the often 30 day or more difference in age of the calves which at 2 lb/day or more can be 60 and maybe 70 lb difference. in actual wt on weaning day. Weight per days of age is better measure of the calf but then you run into a problem accounting for and dividing by the cow's wt at weaning. Cow efficiency is really what we are looking for. The adjustment to 205 days and for the age of the cow (for the first couple years only) is done automatically by computer programs such as Cattlemax which then display actual, adj 205 day, wda, adg, etc. jmho.
