New Mexico
weight per day of age on the calf ( and refer back to actual or estimated birth weight ).

One reason to note BW is you likely will not be saving a hiefer that has a real high BW as compared to your norm.

Result is cow "x" thus raises say 2.7 lbs of calf, per calf day of age etc.
Also cow "x" raises @% of her bodyweight annually as her calf.

Calf sex of course noted too.
Hiefers generally some lighter than steers ( thus shows in WDA raised ).

BCS on cows...don't matter much at weaning. ( range condition is range condition, cows naturally keep themselves in range condition as long as they have feed )
Since she's bred, that means she was in fine shape to breed up earlier.

Generally enough real favorable open feed days left such that cows of arguably low BCS will get themselves in good shape by winter.

Generally some of those high BCS ( Fat actually ) cows as weighed compared to their calf's weight, you'll find they are not raising near the calf weight as the range condition or some of the arguably thinner cows do.

Most cows run fat cells on thru the milk, thus on to the calf....some do not, they lay on more backfat and milk less.

Also keep in mind a P 1 cow ( without the calf on her ) will survive and get in decent shape on darn near nothing feed wise as compared to a P 2 cow.

One reason folks early wean ( say 275 to 350 lbs ) is simply feed saved.
Stock pile, it or run more cows, or run calves till they're yearlings etc..

Actual is always Actual, and SIMPLE ( one calculation ) formulas are best.
Get into complicated formulas and adjusting this, adjusting that, etc., it generally flaws some of the actual.
