Its no difference than the basis in corn. Our state is in the top two in the country for milk quality. Why pay for it? Large dairies are the norm and for some reason direct load is not an option. We pay for our own hauling--$1.10/cwt or more. We have the same ability to get the $ for high solids, but I don't consider those premiums that are linked solely to large herds.

I was referring to the quote from Tom/MN "Those large daires get huge volume premiums. The more you produce the more you get. Insane isn`t it. The ones that are causing these low prices are the one getting paid more."

If that's case, then most of the low prices are caused by those in the East and Midwest. West coast "large" dairies have some of the lowest mailbox prices in the country. Please show me my volume premium.
