I'm wondering what the paradigm in the beef industry is going to be. The same ethanol industry providing the cheap feed is the industry driving us to farm more marginal land and move the cows to ever poorer pasture's or drylot. I personally have some ground here that runs cows that could be farmed, but it's going to have to be "improved" at no small cost if I do it. Regulations have already been mentioned. As I'm in a Critical Area Watershed, I'm sure they'll get here sooner or later. There's a big kick on e coli numbers in Mark Twain Lake right now, and, sooner or later, they're going to come upstream and start looking for sources. There will also be a push for all kinds of animal welfare type "stuff".
