Beef is quite a bit different than dairy, poultry, and pork. Cow-Calf production takes a lot of land to produce 1 calf a year per cow. The other industries can be profitable in a confinement situation where I really don't think beef production can. That and the fact that around half of the cow herd is owned by small operators throughout the country makes me believe that beef production will be the exception. That is on the cow-calf side of production only. For finished animals I agree that it may become harder to market less than a load at a time.
