Baldwin City, KS | I don't really have a ton of experience with raising heifers or any younger breeding animals. I bought some calved out, first calf heifers early this spring. Most had mid January- February calves. I have them on Brome/Fescue pasture and have not weaned the calves yet. I feel like a handful of them are getting to be a little thinner looking than I would like to see. I really hadn't planned on weaning the calves until fall since the fence isn't the best where they are currently grazing.
Should I be feeding some grain, co products, or maybe liquid feed at this point? They still have pretty good grass at this point. Is it better that I just go ahead and figure out a way to pull the calves before fall?
Thanks for the info. | |
