C IL | We've done a lot of old house work. I would consider lining the inside of the bathroom walls with 3/4 or 1" blueboard for insulation and then the green drywall. Get the tub only and install it. Then, get just a surround for the walls. Sometimes, these are up to 5 pieces that solve the non-plumb corners. The corners are glued in first, then the back panel and end panels overlap them. It does take a nice caulking job, but the overlaps just cover up the old non-plumb problems. Your tub will have the flange at the top, so the water will stay inside from the shower surround overlap at the tub. Take a little extra time and materials now, since you will likely use this heavily and it is easier to work a little harder now, than to tear it out later to fix a leak somewhere. | |
