Subject: RE: bathtub surround in old farm house

Mid Michigan
It's pretty easy to frame up the walls straight to put in the tub. A one piece tub enclosure is HUGE. They simply will not fit into the doorways of a house thats already built. Most new houses get them dropped in during the framing process. You will more than likely be better off with a 3 piece enclosure. I did that and it worked great. Pieces were still pretty big. You get the three pieces and bolt them together after you get it in the house. Pretty much looks like the 1 piece but has one seam up the middle that you seal with silicone. They are about the same price as the 1 piece. After you get it bolted together you just set it in the opening. Mine has been here for over 15 years and still looks good. I got it from Builders Square when they used to be in Lansing Mi.
