Southwest Iowa | Hey there Mrs B.. I saw your tag on a previous post and saw that you were from Wapello county and was just curious how things are down there from the flood of 2008? Towards the end of July that year, I and a few other drivers hauled some soybean meal from Iowa Falls down to an elevator called Tri Oaks located in Oakville not far from the river that got absolutely destroyed by the flood waters. I couldn't believe the devastation that I saw the 5 days that I was there and all the efforts of cleaning everything up and the volunteers that were there! I was just wondering how things are coming along and are there people rebuilding in the town? Did they ever get all of the roads fixed? There was a highway between Wapello and Oakville that got damaged pretty bad for a few miles out of Wapello.
Hopefully we never see anything like that happen again! | |
