Friends of ours just put on a composite granite skin. Only 1/16 in thick. Think it's small parts of granite in epoxy. You just go over your existing formica if you just want new countertops. Better than granite because heat has no effect(granite can crack if you set a hot pot on it) on it plus will stand up to a dropped pot much better than granite. Very hard to tell it's not a big slab.
