High Springs, Florida
Our house has Formica, and I really like it. But they did a lousy job of gluing it on. We do have a center island in the kitchen that needs re-done because of this. I have installed Formica laminate, and it's not really expensive, $39 for a 4X8 7 years ago, and it's not that hard if you follow directions. Granite or Corian would be nice, but expensive and HEAVY!

I think Formica fell out of favor because in the last 20 years or so, folks had more disposable income to spend on niceties such as counter tops in new homes and remodels.
