I just bought a used ZD326 zero turn lawn mower. I was using it for the first time today. Felt of the little PTO driven gearbox under my feet that drives the cutting deck. It was hot and i checked oil and it was dry, Put some in and it is leaking out of the bottom seal. I would like to use it this season and then this winter maybe see if i could reseal/replace it. Can i use a tube of JD cornhead grease in it to make it last awhile?

We are somewhat familiar with the Kubota high speed gear box, having repaired the one on our F2880 front mount mower deck. As it is the beginning of the season I would repair it now. They usually leak for a reason. Having run dry I doubt you will make it through the season in any case. That gearbox is about $1000 to replace if it comes to that.

Lots of opinions that you should try cornhead grease. The input rpm spec is 2545 rpm on our machine. Not sure how well grease would work at that speed. If you try it let us know how long it lasts.
