Central Indiana | It’ll bring exactly what the investor who buys it wants to pay unfortunately. Used to be farmers bidding ground and prices stayed relatively reasonable because money was tight and profits needed to be made. Seed companies (I.e. Becks) and land investors will outbid anyone and everyone because profits are available no matter what input costs, commodities prices, or interest rates are. Investors are simply investing knowing the trend will change again and they’ll be in the money. Seed companies make triple per acre what farmers can and will pay it off in 6 years tops. Farmers will be left in the aftermath wondering what happened. I’m guessing a bid of 14,500 will take it. | |
