| Your reply and this thread I started just jogged my memory of what happened to a man I knew. He was driving on the service road of a highway after dark and ran over a guy wearing dark clothes who was walking in the middle of that lane. It killed the man and also did a lot of body damage to the Ford Explorer. The driver told me he had horrible nightmares over it and thought he was going to be arrested and put in prison. He of course never left the scene of the collision and notified authorities promptly.
He couldn’t understand how it happened and questioned why a person would be walking down the middle of a lane late at night and wearing all dark clothing. Turns out the man, who was run over, was homeless and apparently not all there mentally. Driver was ruled not at fault. It still bothered him a lot regardless and I totally get that. Horrible way to die and horrible to be the one who accidentally ran over the man.
