Subject: RE: A local man was out walking on the edge of a public road

I used to be heavy into mountain bike and road bike riding for fitness but primarily just rural locations. We attempted to try the smallish town hike/bike trail thing on a converted train track route. Walked them first and transitioned to bicycles. The latter just simply wasn't cohesive between those on foot and bicyclists as walkers walk four or more wide ,shoulder to shoulder, and would give no thought or care to bike riders needing to go around them. So back to rural road riding I went only to face the reality of being run over had we continued. Never rode after dark. I was the type of rider who would stay way over to the right and not ever intentionally block traffic. When distracted drivers decided texting and watching videos was more important than paying attention behind the wheel , I completely quit riding on public roads for good. Not worth the risks.
